Ok, we know that we have not said goodbye to 2014 just yet but food fanatics are already looking ahead to the new year, to see what tasty treats they will be getting their mouths around. Kaniwa >

A list of food trends would not be complete without a super food for health fanatics. Kaniwa is the new seed that is giving quinoa a run for its money and we think it’s unique nutty taste is delicious. Like quinoa, it is gluten free and is full of calcium, protein and fibre, all those good things that make it the ultimate guilt free food. In its native South America, it is eaten mostly for breakfast but, like many seeds and grains, it is great in salads and soups.

Sauerkraut >

Fermented food as a whole is going to be BIG in 2015, with Sauerkraut leading the pack. The raw food movement is still gathering momentum across the foodie world, with no signs that it is going to stop. Said to have probiotic qualities, fermented foods such as kimchi and miso started the trend and Sauerkraut is carrying it through into next year. In addition to the health properties, fermented food is easy to prepare and store and also packs a big punch in the flavor department. Add to sal-ads and sandwiches or be creative with traditional German recipes.

Oysters >

Say goodbye to peanuts on the bar and bowls of chips served with your beer, 2015 will make way for an altogether classier snack. Oysters are making a big comeback, as farmers are winning the fight against toxins in bays and tidal basins so that oysters are easier to produce at low costs. The best way to eat them fresh from the sea, with a hint of seasoning and a whole lot of gusto as you pour them into your mouth.

Vietnamese food >

Korean food has been around for much of 2014 and it is set to stay away into 2015. With our pal-ates accustomed to intense flavors and spices, we welcome Vietnamese food into the top trends set to storm 2105. Small plates, plenty of noodles and lots of curries are set to be found in restau-rants, pop up shops and street food stalls, as the demand for Asian cuisine refuses to go away. Vi-etnamese pho is set to be a contender of ‘the’ dish of the year.

Ok, so hummus has been around for decades and can be found in all supermarkets and restau-rants but with a huge surge in vegetarianism and veganism in an increasingly animal welfare con-scious world, hummus is set to get sexy. With fun and interesting flavor combinations, such as smoke almond and pistachio, this protein packed dish refuses to be boring next year.

Signature Cocktails >

Crafts beers, local wines, posh spirits and even posher mixers have been on the restaurant scene for a few years now but THE thing to look out for when you are booking a table at a restaurant are signature cocktails. Whilst people with book a table for restaurants serving high end cuisine, they will also flock for a much talked about cocktail. Watch out for lots of beer flavored cocktails as well as modern twists on old classics. If you are holding a dinner party then get your thinking cap on as to what YOUR signature cocktail will be.
