Boost Your Child's Self-Esteem: Books That Inspire

Books are magical! They transport us into the lives of characters, drawing us in and letting us live with them for a while. They worry us and delight us, and when we turn the last page, we feel like we’re saying goodbye to old friends.

Start your child on the road to reading! Build a home library. Choose selections that have won awards like Newberry and Caldecott, to provide your children with top-ranked classics. Don’t judge a book by its cover! Read online reviews and stock your shelves with a great variety.

One excellent theme to include is self-esteem. Children need to read stories they can relate to about home, school, friends and personal characteristics. Look for stories with characters that overcome physical, mental and emotional obstacles with courage, confidence and determination. Choose books that remind your children that they are wonderful, unique people with gifts and talents all their own. The following is a list of inspirational and memorable books.
